The purpose is to glorify God, help the helpless and shine hope for the hopeless. We are lights, stained glass windows, mirrors, however you want to say it, to magnify God’s love and power to the world. Why do we complicate it so with our egos, self indulgence, and lack of faith?
Sorry if this smacks of spam of ads, but it is something in which I am personally interested. Good food leads to good health, because we are wonderfully made to receive our nutrition through food sources, only whole food sources will support good health. The real wonder is in how our bodies use the right fuel!

My neighbor lady has been having me pick her up at her job in a town about 1/2 an hour away a couple times a week. She works a different shift than her husband, and he picks her up on his mornings off. There is no one that she knows of to carpool with. I am glad to do this. I like getting to know people, we’re not as different as we sometimes want to believe.
Today, she showed up at my door, I assumed to pay me for the past weeks gas, but no, she wanted me to drive her and her 3 girls to her friend’s house outside of town. I was glad to give her a ride, but after getting in the car, I quickly picked up that something was wrong. One of the girls blurted out, “He’s been yelling at her since 7:30.” I asked if it was an ongoing thing or what. She said it was just today he came to pick her up and she wasn’t there - she had gone to a bar with her friend from work, “…and he thinks I was out hunting for someone, a guy… dressed like this (sweats and a hoody)? I just don’t know what to do”. She needed to get out of the house so she could get some rest, and he would stop. She said she’d pay me for driving, but she left her card in her coat pocket at her work friend’s apartment. I said, “Whatever, you just get some rest.” I didn’t know what to say… As I pulled out of the drive, I prayed.
I’ve met him, and I can’t imagine that much gets him riled up, but I know appearances can be deceiving. I do know that I have never heard her even say an unkind word about him, which leads me to believe that my gut is right. I have met the friend from work, and she seems flighty. I don’t know her enough to know though. I do know though that sometimes happily married women will start hanging with malcontents and end up wrecking their own marriages. My neighbor lady has a kind heart, and she likes having friends, so it is no surprise that she latched onto this perky, outgoing person… no matter what her other character traits may be. Everyone needs friends, we just need to be careful that our activities don’t fall to the least common denominator, that we encourage each other to our better selves. (Yes, I am an idealist.)
As I arrived home, I had the instinct to go talk to the husband for a moment - I didn’t want to, but I did. I told him that I gave her a ride, but I am not taking sides. I told him that these things happen, but I hate to see anyone lose a marriage over a misunderstanding. He seemed befuddled, slightly more alive than usual, and I could see fear in his eyes, and sense that he didn’t know what to do. He asked me to tell her she is welcome home if I talk to her. I told him that if they need someone to talk to… us or we could help them find someone. I don’t want to get in the middle of it, but I figure that it is good to leave both with encouragement. There are no sides here… it is a marriage and a family we are talking about, so it is one team being shaken by divisive evils (no, I don’t blame her work friend).
I don’t know if I should contact her and tell her what he said, I mean she was talking about finding a new place to live… I think she is exhausted from 3rd shift, and not up to the work of marriage and family right now. The really sad thing is that the 3 girls didn’t seem too alarmed by it, like this was nothing compared to the past (with her ex). I will pray and hope for them, because I do know I can do that. …and I will appreciate what I have, knowing that we are not as different as we sometimes want to believe.

I have decided that Pinterest is for hoarders who don’t want to clutter their houses. lol Haven’t decided what Tumblr is for… at least for me. I love finding the useful uses of social media sites!
The ones I use are e-mail, a church based share line & prayer line, Facebook, Pandora, various comment engines, Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, and even Amazon… probably more lol… oh, yahoogroups - freecycle particularly.
What do you think are the various uses of various social media, or at least how are they useful to you?
